Veto Valorant abilities how to play - 1

Tired of continuous stuns, slows, and negative debuffs? Not anymore. Agent 29 of Valorant is finally here, and he comes with skills to destroy utilities. Veto, the 7th Sentinel in the game, is equipped with all the tools to destroy enemy abilities. This allows him to be the frontline juggernaut for the team. So, if you want to master Veto in Valorant, here are all his abilities, along with quick tips and tricks to use them.

All Valorant Veto Abilities Explained

Before jumping into how to play Veto in Valorant , here is the list of all his abilities:

Crosscut (C)

Crosscut Veto - 2

Use C to equip a vortex energy ball and press ‘Fire’ to place it on the ground. While within range of the ball, aim at a vortex to teleport to the vortex’s location. During the purchase phase, the energy ball can be retrieved and ‘Redeployed’.

Crosscut introduces Veto’s most flexible movement mechanic, letting him place a vortex on the ground that acts as a teleport beacon. This ability gives Veto rare mobility for a Sentinel, similar to Chamber’s Rendezvous but with a more deliberate design.

Chokehold (Q)

Chokehold Veto - 3

Equip a fragment of Mutated Slime and press ‘Fire’ to throw it. Upon impact, the fragment deploys as a trap, trapping enemies passing through. Once triggered, the trap deafens and corrupts opponents, leaving them weakened and exposed to follow-up attacks. Veto’s Chokehold is a powerful trap ability that deploys a fragment of mutated slime, creating a zone that snares enemies who pass through it.

Chokehold serves as both a stalling and punishing tool, locking down choke points or entry paths. Its effects resemble a mix between the GravNet from Deadlock and Seize from Fade . However, the best part is that you will not need lineups or direct sight to use this ability. Just plant your trap early.

Interceptor (E)

Interceptor Veto - 4

Interceptor is Veto’s signature anti-utility skill, capable of wiping out enemy devices and projectiles on command. Equip the Phage and press ‘Fire’ to deploy it to the target location. After deployment, use the skill again to activate it. Once activated, the Phage neutralizes any nearby equipment that can bounce or be destroyed. For example, Boom Bot (Raze) or Wingman ( Gekko ), everything can be shut down using the Interceptor.

This ability effectively counters the modern utility-heavy meta, serving as a deterrent against explosive site executions. It works as a blend between KAY/O’s suppression and Killjoy’s lockdown control. However, the effect is immediate. The only issue is that the Phage can be destroyed by gunfire, and it has only 20 HP.

Evolution (X)

Evolution ultimate Veto Valorant - 5

Veto’s Evolution ultimate ability turns him into a fully mutated powerhouse in Valorant. Press the ultimate button to immediately activate mutation. While in mutation, it grants combat enhancement, regeneration, and total immunity to debuffs. This is an ideal ability to be a tank and lead entries or hold sites. Keep in mind that you will require 7 ult orbs to use Evolution .

While most Sentinels end up being the team-baiter, Veto has all the utilities to be a strong juggernaut. Evolution transforms Veto into a frontline fighter, giving survivability with aggression. It is also a great ultimate to deny enemy post plant situations. This ultimate ability changes the concept of how Sentinels work in Valorant.

Pro Tips and Tricks to Play Veto in Valorant

Now that you know about all the Veto abilities in Valorant, here is a list of tips and tricks you can use to utilize the Sentinel agent the most:

  • Set up Crosscut Early : Crosscut is an insane toolkit in Veto’s abilities, as it helps in pushing or flanking much more easily. It also helps you escape from tricky situations. However, setting up the ability in mid-fight can put you in a vulnerable state as you must look at the vortex to activate the teleport. You cannot use it like a Yoru or Chamber teleport. So, be careful when taking your aim away from a potential enemy location.
  • Use Interceptor Safely : Veto’s signature ability makes him a great dismantler. However, the Phage can be destroyed by a single bullet from any Valorant weapon . So, you cannot use it like a Killjoy sentry turret. Instead, use the ability like a Vyse ArcRose. Just make sure you are not putting it somewhere enemies can already predict.
  • Combine Chokehold with AOE Abilities : Just like a GravNet or Seize, Chokehold can be deadly when combined with heavy damage AOE abilities. As Chokehold also defeans enemies, it will be hard for them to track down if any enemy utility is coming their way.
  • Utilize Mutation through Team Abilities : When you use Evolution, it lets you walk through the team’s abilities, too. Meaning, Breach knock up or Astra pulls will not work on you. This makes Veto a great agent to take enemies head-on while teammates throw down all utilities toward them.

Best Maps to Play Valorant Agent Veto

One of the keys to mastering Veto is to know which maps suit him the best. Don’t worry, we have compiled a list of the best maps where you must pick Veto as the primary Sentinel.

  • Sunset : This map is like a match made in heaven for Veto. There are plenty of nooks and corners for you to keep placing traps or teleporting for a solid flank.
  • Bind : Small maps with fewer open areas are where Veto can be the true master chef. Just make sure you are prepared to shut down enemy utilities when they push in through the hookah or showers.
  • Corrode : Not the best map for Veto, but definitely a great layout where you can exploit his teleport and traps. Especially in the B site, Veto can be a solid solo defender if played right.
