Will Byers and Vecna in Stranger Things Season 5 - 1

The long-awaited Stranger Things Season 5 debuted with its first volume on Netflix in the last week of November. Before it could settle properly, one of its scenes became the most-talked-about controversial topic among the parents. The show had been dark from the very beginning, but in the final chapter, some parents feel that the series has crossed a line that it shouldn’t have.

The Scene That Sparked Outrage Among Parents in Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1

Back in the day, audiences watched movies and television shows in a laid-back manner, but now it’s a different story. You never know what people are thinking while watching something on their screens. So, we all knew that Stranger Things is a show that has hooked the fandom with its dark tone. However, in the first five minutes of Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 1, there was a scene where Will is captured by Vecna . He ties the little boy to a tree and injects a substance through one of his tendrils into Will’s mouth. This one scene has become a topic of debate among several parents, who find it disturbing to watch, especially for their kids.

Another comment on the platform states, “ Yep, that part made me so uncomfortable that I had to look away, that’s how bad it is?! It doesn’t get any better. It gets worse where they had lgbtq themed parts. Even in episode 4, Vecna was shown to be more sinister than before. It’s not for kids?! Parents protect their kids from this. I only watched it from a Christian perspective, and it’s so sinister, and I wouldn’t recommend it to a younger audience .”

Several others think that the series should have stuck to the darker tone, but didn’t have to involve sexual assault. Well, even though the Duffer Brothers haven’t stepped forward to clarify, they indeed have revealed before that the final chapter will be darker than the previous ones.

Well, fortunately, not every viewer gets the scene wrong. There are also several who say that there’s nothing wrong with that, as it completely matches the tone. A comment on X reads: “ Can someone explain ‘the more sinister meaning”? Have y’all even watched the show in its entirety? Or just this 5-minute clip that’s a throwback to season 1? Y’all really gotta know context!!! I feel like some of y’all are commenting on a show you haven’t seen before .”

Now, that’s not all, as a portion of the audience thinks that, even though it was a crucial part of the series, the creators could have used some sort of telepathy to bring the scene to life. So, it seems the creators of Stranger Things have to justify and make things clear to the audience before the final two parts of the last chapter arrive.
