• Marvel Rivals’ July 24 patch brings Fantastic Four: First Steps MCU collab.
  • New First Steps Team-Up between Human Torch and The Thing is introduced.
  • Players will now earn more Accessory Points in each match.

Marvel Rivals Season 3, The Abyss Awakens, debuted on July 11, and players are diving into its new meta. Phoenix’s inclusion as a Duelist has changed strategy, with her Primal Flame Team-Up with Wolverine resulting in a flaming, lifesteal-fueled powerhouse that is dominating ranked matches.

The Ever-Burning Bond Team-Up, which combines Human Torch and Spider-Man, is also becoming quite popular, giving Spidey’s webs a scorching edge for devastating AoE damage. The Klyntar: Celestial Husk map and balancing adjustments, such as enhancements to The Thing’s mobility and Namor’s damage, have boosted the pro scene.

As Season 3 progresses, a new update is here which features the “First Steps” team-up between Human Torch and The Thing, promising to shake up the meta even more while commemorating the renowned superhero team’s big screen debut with the MCU film release. Here are the full patch notes for the update.

New Fantastic Four Skins Bundle

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Costume Series Debuts! Available from: July 25, at 2 AM UTC. All four characters, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, will get new skins and emotes inspired by the upcoming MCU film.

New Additions and Optimizations

New Team-Up Ability – First Steps (Human Torch & The Thing):

Johnny is the Team-Up Anchor and can lift The Thing into the air. Then, at the perfect moment, hurl Ben to the ground, dealing damage, launching enemies, and creating a zone that disables mobility abilities.

“You know what time it is, Ben?”

We’ve increased the rate at which Accessory Points can be earned:

Quick Match: Now grants 15 per match. Practice VS. AI: Now grants 10 per match. This change takes effect after the Accessory Point limit resets on July 25 at 9 AM UTC.

All Platform Fixes

Fixed an issue where there was no background music in the lobby transition for Psylocke’s Breezy Butterfly costume. Now, you can enjoy those mutant vibes in style!

Hero Fixes

  • Spider-Man’s Web of Woes: Fixed a bug where Peter’s selection box could get tangled and display incorrectly when both a Spider-Tracer and Burn-Tracer existed at the same time. Now Spidey’s marks display correctly, no more sticky situations.
  • Phoenix’s Fiery Focus: Corrected a minor scaling error in Phoenix’s hero select display. Jean’s presence is now as balanced as the Phoenix Force itself.
  • Black Widow’s Red Room Reboot: Addressed an issue where if Natasha was launched up during Edge Dancer, it could disrupt the subsequent multi-stage ability logic. The Black Widow Program taught her better – Nat’s moves are now flawless.
  • Rocket Raccoon’s Ravager Revival: Fixed a glitch in Rocket’s B.R.B., where, when reviving a teammate, it would sometimes incorrectly display in the top right that it revived 2 teammates. Even Rocket can only make one miracle at a time, folks!
  • Cloak & Dagger’s Shadow Shuffle: Resolved an unintended crossover where Cloak & Dagger’s Ultimate Ability could be affected by another teammate’s Cloak’s Dark Teleportation (such as a shapeshifted Loki). The Darkforce Dimension is invitation-only!
  • Phoenix’s Frame-Rate Phoenix Down: Fixed an issue where Phoenix’s turning mid-air during her Ultimate Ability was affected by frame rate (lower frame rates made her easier to control). Now, Jean’s fiery flight is smooth at any speed. Rise again, Phoenix!

  • Marvel Rivals consists of emotes that can only be performed with a particular cosmetic skin of a character.
  • The workaround breaks this exclusivity and requires you to bind a key with that emote.
  • You can then use that exclusive emote with any skin of that character including the default version.

Marvel Rivals continues to attract thousands of gamers with its collection of bright cosmetic skins inspired by iconic Marvel films and comics, featuring over 211 costumes and 18 chromas for its 40 playable heroes. The in-game store, which offers a mix of free and premium items, entices players with exclusive skins, emotes, and bundles that are frequently linked to the Battle Pass or Combat Chest.

High-rarity skins, such as those in the Premium Edition, include unique features like additional sound effects, but their high cost, which can go up to 1,200 Chrono Tokens for a full set, has prompted gamers to explore hacky solutions to obtain them. When that doesn’t work, they use mods and emotes to equip unofficial cosmetics that often lead them to a ban.

However, some creative geniuses have found solutions to bypass the skin-exclusive emotes so they are now able to use it with even just a default skin for that character. Here’s how.

Marvel Rivals Players Find Ways to Use Skin-Exclusive Emotes With Any Hero Skin

Players have discovered a new workaround in Marvel Rivals that allows them to use skin-exclusive emotes on any skin by binding them to a key , as shown in a video shared by RivalsAssembled. This workaround allows emotes such as Jeff the Land Shark’s Cohesive Cling to be performed even by Jeff’s default, thus eliminating the need to use the Devouring Duo costume claimed from the Season 3 Battle Pass.

The emote workaround contributes to players finding workarounds to make the most out of a cosmetic item by providing a simple solution in comparison to other approaches, where they claim skins from platform-specific downloads like the Scarlet Spider skin for PlayStation users.

Some players who tried this workaround shared their experience, where one user wrote, “It’ll take some work and a tweak here and there, but I really hope this gets added officially someday.” On the other hand some users claimed this was already a feature in the game, long before the latest Season 3 was released.
