The sixth Scream film was released in 2023, and since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting Scream 7. Well, the film has recently released a brutality-packed first trailer, giving us a glimpse of the events and characters. Unlike the fifth and sixth films, it will not feature the Carpenter sisters; in fact, it will star the OG lady, Sidney Prescott, in the lead role. Now that we have the trailer, many are assuming Scream 7 to be the final movie. So, is Scream 7 the last movie in the Scream franchise?

No, Scream 7 isn’t the last chapter. Well, nothing as such has been confirmed yet by the creators so far. In an interview with Deadline , Kevin Williamson stated that after experimenting with things in the last two films, he and Neve Campbell decided to reset the franchise. They wanted to make everything go back to where it started. Williamson also mentioned that Campbell wants the film to focus more on the scary part and not all the gore.
Moreover, Williamson believes that it would be really sinful if the film fails to do justice to Sidney’s character, as she has suffered a lot. So, he feels that it would be a great idea to give her a decent ending.
Well, after the sixth installment’s concluding event, several fans thought that the new chapter will be its last. However, with no official confirmation and Williamson’s ‘reset’ decision, we can expect some sequel projects that would eventually introduce us to a new set of characters.
Given the popularity of the franchise, we can’t digest the fact that it will be the end of something that never fails to surprise you with inventions every now and then. Unlike many slasher films, Scream never gives a predictable story and that’s what keeps fans on the edge of their seats to meet a new Ghostface after the current ones die.
