The final episode of Stranger Things Season 5, released on December 31, 2025, was way more exciting than the previous trailers teased. The television series never hesitated from tragedies, fake outs, or devastating sacrifices since the beginning. And since the eighth episode of the final season has aired, the fandom has been actively looking for the answer to one pressing question: Is Eleven really dead? No, Eleven doesn’t die in the Stranger Things finale, though the Duffer brothers wanted you to believe her passing for a while.

Eleven launches the final attack on Vecna by directly entering his brain. With Kali’s help, she shows the kids that Mr. Whatsit was never what he portrayed himself to be in front of them. That’s when Vecna manifested in the real world to manipulate Hopper into pulling Eleven out of the bath. He clearly wants her out of the equation to achieve his goals. In front of Hopper, he claims that he knows what is inside Eleven’s mind. Vecna says that Kali and Eleven are prepared to sacrifice themselves to stop him.

Despite every hurdle that came her way, Eleven ultimately wins. Vecna is gone, with Joyce making sure that the threat is gone permanently now. Just when we start believing that the peace was restored, the military ambushes the gang when they exit the Upside Down. They capture each one of them, but can’t get their hands on Eleven.

Dustin says that she must have escaped, but in the next moment, Mike sees her standing on the other side of the gate. She pulls Mike into her mind and reveals that she has to go to keep everyone safe. Following that emotional yet powerful moment, Eleven just vanishes into thin air.

Later, in the Wheelers’ basement, Mike recites a story focused on their future. He talks about how they have moved on in their lives. He talks about the future of each of them, and finally, he comes to Eleven. When he reaches Eleven’s part, he unknowingly reveals the truth. He says that it was a plan devised by Eleven and Kali. The sister duo led everyone to believe that Eleven was gone, but the reality is different. Eleven is alive and found her home in a beautiful town surrounded by lush greenery.

So, basically, Eleven saved Hawkins and her friends and decided to part ways with them to protect them from the Black Hand.

Sure, you don’t get a band of kids fighting off the inter-dimensional threat, but you still get amazing characters like Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop, and his son Peter.

3. The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy may not be as popular as Stranger Things, but believe me, it’s an awesome show that features some amazing band of characters. In Stranger Things, we have one or two superhero kids, and in The Umbrella Academy, every character has some sort of superpower.

The film centers around the Hargreeves siblings, who reunite after the death of their adoptive father. Each one of them has some ability, and one way or another, the siblings are dragged into tackling issues like alternate timelines and the end of the world. Of course, The Umbrella Academy might’ve disappointed many of us fans in the end, but if you can digest an underwhelming end, it’s for sure an amazing show to watch.

4. Alice In Borderland

Alice in Borderland is a Japanese show that centers on a group of people stuck in what we’ll call an alternate dimension. These people have to take part in a variety of deadly games to make it out alive.

Yeah, in a way, Alice in Borderland is a mix of Squid Game and Stranger Things. But of course, don’t expect to see any flesh-eating monsters in this one. Still, the mystery around Borderland and the people running this place is as great as the mystery of Upside Down .

The events recorded in these videotapes lead Turner on a mystery hunt where he comes across threats like alternate dimensions, occult rituals, and a cult.

Sure, Archive 81 may take some time to grab your interest, but once it does, you stay in it until you see it to the very end. It not only entertains you with a variety of characters, but it also questions you on every stage by making you question what’s real or not.
