- Copper chains can be crafted using 1 copper ingot and 2 copper nuggets in Minecraft.
- These chains look similar to the ones made up of iron, but come in four different colors.
- The four colors of a copper chain is based upon it oxidation level that can be locked using honeycombs
The copper family is expanding, and the Minecraft 1.21.9 ‘ The Copper Age ‘ update introduces copper chains in the game. While these look similar to their iron counterparts, there are more variations to this chain in terms of color and states. So, if you are looking for a way to add some medieval designs to your base that require chains, check out this guide to learn all the steps to make copper chains in Minecraft.
Items Required to Craft Copper Chain in Minecraft
The materials you need to make copper chains are easily obtainable and are as follows:
- 1 Copper ingot
- 2 Copper nuggets
In order to obtain both materials, you need to mine some Copper ore first. These are found mostly around the Y=43 level and on exposed mountain peaks. You can mine the ores to get raw copper, which you can then smelt in furnaces to get copper ingots. Next, you can use one such ingot to get 9 copper nuggets . Lastly, you will need a crafting table in Minecraft to make the chain.
Steps to Make Copper Chain in Minecraft
Now that you have the required materials, craft a copper chain by following the steps below:
- Put the crafting table on the ground and right-click on it to use its UI.
- Place the copper ingot at the center of the 3 x 3 crafting grid.
- Then, place one nugget on top, while the other goes right below.
- This way, you will get a single copper chain on the right cell.
- Now, you can drag the item to store it in your inventory.

All Uses of Copper Chains in Minecraft
1. Making Hanging Signs
A set of two copper chains is used as a crafting ingredient in making hanging signs in Minecraft. The second material is six stripped logs, which can be obtained by breaking logs of wood after stripping their texture using an axe.

These signs can be hung from ceilings and thus don’t occupy a block-by-block space. Furthermore, like signboards, you can write text on it and make the font glow using a glow-in-the-dark ink sac for better visibility.
2. Hanging Items
Apart from using the chains to make hanging signs, you can use them as a decorative item as well. Placing them vertically from the ceiling allows you to hang all sorts of different items like lanterns, bells, and signboards.

These can be placed horizontally too, but you can’t hang any lantern or bell to their ends. Moreover, a horizontal and a vertical chain won’t connect.
3. Oxidative States
Finally, the copper chains come in 8 different variants, based on their oxidative states and waxed nature. While the unoxidized chains come in orange, the oxidized ones in green, and the ones in between have a mix of both colors.

You can scrape off the patina from oxidized chains using an axe, and get back its original color. Otherwise, use a honeycomb to wax a copper chain and lock its state, hence it won’t change color in the future.

- Spear is a powerful, new weapon that will arrive with the Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem update later this year.
- The Spears can be crafted using two sticks and ingots made from any of these materials: Iron, Gold, or Diamond.
- Players can equip the Spear and charge at enemies on mounts, causing damage, knocking them down, and even dismounting them.
The combat in Minecraft is going to become even more chaotic and exciting with the next update later this year. The final drop of 2025 is going to be called Mounts of Mayhem, as announced in the Minecraft Live September 2025 livestream, and it is packed with some epic features. One of the key highlights is the brand-new tier weapon – the Spear, while the other is the Nautilus mob .
The Spear is not going to be easy to master; however, it can make a difference in combat, whether it’s PvE or PvP battles. So, dive right in to know all about this powerful weapon, and how the combat situation in Minecraft is about to change.
Spear Introduces Mounted Combat in Minecraft
The Spear is not going to be just another melee weapon in Minecraft. Unlike the swords and axes, this one’s not easy to handle. As you wield it longer, it begins to feel heavier with time, reducing its effectiveness for a brief period.
Crafting a spear requires only two sticks and an ingot – Iron, Gold, or even Diamond. Coming to its combat mechanics, the Spear has two attack modes – a short, close-range Jab and a Charge attack. The Charge attack works similarly to a Mace , and the damage done increases with your speed.

Attacking with a Spear in Minecraft while riding a mount goes through three states:
- Lowered or Idle state is when it can deal damage, knockback enemies, and dismount them from their mount as well.
- Once the Spear starts to shake, you can deal damage and knockback enemies, but not dismount them.
- Finally, once the spear starts to fall, it can only deal damage and no longer cause knockback or dismount enemies.
The Spear of each tier affects how quickly it begins to fall. The diamond Spear, being the heaviest, drops the fastest, but can deliver the heaviest blows to the enemies. Whereas the Iron and Gold versions are lighter but inflict less damage.
New Combat Scenarios in Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem
The Mounts of Mayhem update in Minecraft is all about the diversity in combat. With the addition of the Spear, players can now perform Jousting on any mount. Whether you’re thinking of Horse Jousting on the ground, using Happy Ghasts to take this battle to the skies, or diving underwater and using the new mobs, Nautilus, to battle each other, anything is possible.
Now, if you didn’t have any idea on this topic, Jousting is when two players riding a mount gallop toward each other and try to knock each other off using the Spear. Furthermore, it’s not limited to using this technique on your friends or other players.

Soon, you’ll be able to ride your favorite companion in the game, equip the Spear, and chase deadly mobs like the Zombies riding horses, or the Drowned riding the Nautilus. However, if you find that the mounts are limiting your strengths, consider flying with the Elytra and clearing out the Pillager Outposts with the Spear. And within the swoosh of a second, you’ll gain the Hero title in the nearby village.
