A brand new set of lanterns has made its way into the game with the Minecraft 1.21.9 ‘The Copper Age’ update. The copper lanterns come in a set of eight variants, just like any copper block. Unlike the orange and blue hues of the regular and soul lanterns, respectively, the copper lanterns emit a green light . Items Need to Make Minecraft Copper Lantern

Making a copper lantern is easy since you only need two basic ingredients as follows:

1 Copper torch
8 Copper nuggets

A copper torch is the first requirement, and it can be made using a stick, a piece of coal or charcoal, and a copper nugget.

As for where you will find copper nuggets, all you need is some raw copper mined from copper ores, which you can then smelt to make ingots. These ingots will each give you 9 copper nuggets in return. Alternatively, you can also smelt copper tools and items to get nuggets as well. Finally, get a crafting table in Minecraft to make yourself the lantern.

Steps to Craft Copper Lantern in Minecraft

Once all materials are ready, follow the given steps to make a copper lantern in Minecraft:

Place the crafting table anywhere, and right-click on it to use its UI.
Put the copper torch at the center of the 3×3 grid, and then surround it with the 8 copper nuggets in each cell.
This gives you a single copper lantern on the right cell, which is always the unoxidized one.
Simply drag it from there to store it in your inventory for use elsewhere.

All Uses of Copper Lantern in Minecraft

The main use of copper lanterns is as a Minecraft light source , providing a light level of 15. We had the standard and the soul lanterns in the game for a long while. The copper lanterns finally bring a much-needed variety to this item in the game. With this new addition, I can now decorate my base with rusty brown and some green lanterns as well, due to its various states.

The unoxidized ones come in a rusty brown color , and they slowly turn greener as they oxidize. If you don’t like the green color, either scrape off that layer using an axe or use a honeycomb to lock its state.

Did you know you could hang lanterns using the chains in Minecraft? Now that copper chains have been introduced in ‘ The Copper Age ‘ update, it will be worth adding them to your base as well.

The combat in Minecraft is going to become even more chaotic and exciting with the next update later this year. The final drop of 2025 is going to be called Mounts of Mayhem, as announced in the Minecraft Live September 2025 livestream, and it is packed with some epic features. One of the key highlights is the brand-new tier weapon – the Spear, while the other is the Nautilus mob .

The Spear is not going to be easy to master; however, it can make a difference in combat, whether it’s PvE or PvP battles. So, dive right in to know all about this powerful weapon, and how the combat situation in Minecraft is about to change.

Spear Introduces Mounted Combat in Minecraft

The Spear is not going to be just another melee weapon in Minecraft. Unlike the swords and axes, this one’s not easy to handle. As you wield it longer, it begins to feel heavier with time, reducing its effectiveness for a brief period.

Crafting a spear requires only two sticks and an ingot – Iron, Gold, or even Diamond. Coming to its combat mechanics, the Spear has two attack modes – a short, close-range Jab and a Charge attack. The Charge attack works similarly to a Mace , and the damage done increases with your speed.

Attacking with a Spear in Minecraft while riding a mount goes through three states:

Lowered or Idle state is when it can deal damage, knockback enemies, and dismount them from their mount as well.
Once the Spear starts to shake, you can deal damage and knockback enemies, but not dismount them.
Finally, once the spear starts to fall, it can only deal damage and no longer cause knockback or dismount enemies.

The Spear of each tier affects how quickly it begins to fall. The diamond Spear, being the heaviest, drops the fastest, but can deliver the heaviest blows to the enemies. Whereas the Iron and Gold versions are lighter but inflict less damage.

New Combat Scenarios in Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem

The Mounts of Mayhem update in Minecraft is all about the diversity in combat. With the addition of the Spear, players can now perform Jousting on any mount. Whether you’re thinking of Horse Jousting on the ground, using Happy Ghasts to take this battle to the skies, or diving underwater and using the new mobs, Nautilus, to battle each other, anything is possible.

Now, if you didn’t have any idea on this topic, Jousting is when two players riding a mount gallop toward each other and try to knock each other off using the Spear. Furthermore, it’s not limited to using this technique on your friends or other players.
