• Copper torches can be crafted using a copper nugget, a coal, and a stick in Minecraft.
  • The copper torches can be used in making copper lanterns and as a source to get heat, light, and to prevent mobs from spawning.
  • Unlike other copper blocks, the torches don’t come in different variants, since they don’t oxidize.

The Minecraft 1.21.9 ‘The Copper Age’ update has introduced new copper torches, and players can now illuminate their bases using this item. If you are tired of the same old regular and soul torches, you might want to check out the cool new greenish flames from the copper torch. Making this one is quite easy, so check out this guide here to make a copper torch for yourself.

Items Needed to Make Copper Torch in Minecraft

Copper torches require just a handful of materials easily obtainable in the overworld. These are as follows:

  • 1 Copper Nugget
  • 1 Charcoal/Coal
  • 1 Stick

Copper nuggets can be made from copper ingots, and each ingot gives you 9 of them. Alternatively, you can smelt the copper tools to get such nuggets as well. For coal, you need to mine coal ores, and to get charcoal, you may simply fire up some wood or coal in a furnace.

The sticks can be made from two sets of planks of any wood type. With that done, you will need a crafting table in Minecraft to place these items and get yourself a torch.

Steps to Craft Minecraft Copper Torch

Now that you have all the materials ready, go ahead and follow the steps below to craft a copper torch in Minecraft:

  • Right-click on a crafting table to open up its grid UI.
  • Place the copper nugget at the center of the top row.
  • Now, put a coal or charcoal just below the nugget and the stick right below it, all in a single line.
  • This formation will give you a set of 4 copper torches in the right cell.
  • Simply drag them to your inventory to use them later.

All Uses of Copper Torch in Minecraft

1. Light and Heat Source

As you already know what torches are used for in Minecraft, this specific use comes up naturally. The copper torches act in the same way as the usual ones to provide a light level of 14. This way, you can place them in your base to prevent the spawning of mobs in those regions.

Furthermore, copper torches can be used to melt snow and ice layers. While placing a copper torch on a surface can melt snow within 2 blocks, it can melt ice within 3 blocks of distance.

2. Making Copper Lanterns

You can also make copper lanterns using these torches. Just make sure you’ve got 8 copper nuggets and a single copper torch required for the lantern. In terms of luminescence, lanterns are a bit superior as they can provide light up to 15 levels.

Moreover, you can place lanterns either on top of the blocks or hang them from the ceiling as well.

Lastly, if you’re wondering whether copper torches have any oxidative states like the rest of the items from this family, the answer is no. Since the base ingredient isn’t copper and you only used a single nugget to change the nature of its flame, this torch won’t have any other variants like the rest of the copper family.

  • Minecraft’s next game drop will add the most anticipated mob, the Copper Golems.
  • There will be copper chests that spawn alongside the Copper Golems where they can store and sort out the items inside.
  • The next update is set to make copper a highly valuable ore that can be used to make early-game tools, weapons, and gear.

Minecraft has teased its third game drop of the year 2025, and it’s already beginning to shake things up with the addition of one of the mobs from a previous mob vote, the copper golem. Apart from the adorable new helper at your base, you will also be able to make new functional copper chests, copper armor, tools, and more. As the update will revolve around copper, let’s uncover what more to expect from the next Minecraft drop.

Copper Golems Are Here in Minecraft

Once a mob vote dream, the Copper Golem is finally becoming a reality in Minecraft. However, these aren’t a natural spawn in the game. Similar to the Snow and Iron Golems , you need to place a carved pumpkin head on top of a copper block to make the Copper Golem alive.

These cute little creatures will help in sorting out inventory and add a special charm to your place. As time passes in the game, the golem will develop a gorgeous patina, giving it a worn-out look. You can then preserve with wax or let them evolve further.

A New Tier of Copper Tools, Weapons, and Armor in Minecraft

Along with Copper Golems comes the copper chests. These aren’t available the moment you start a new world. Rather, the first copper chests always spawn alongside a Copper Golem, and later, you can pick them up to know their crafting recipe.

The copper chests have a mechanic similar to copper blocks and oxidize over time. So, use wax to preserve their color and prevent them from wearing down.

Finally, the next Minecraft drop officially adds copper equipment tier, which sits between stone and iron. This allows you to craft copper pickaxes, swords, armor sets, and all other tools.

Naturally, the copper gear is stronger than stone ones but weaker than iron, making it a perfect early game material for crafting items. These Golems were originally introduced in the mob vote but didn’t win. However, a lot of crafters wanted it to be added to the game as well. So the next drop will mark the return of the fan-favorite idea.
