Microsoft is on a spree to replace native Windows programs with web-based applications. Case in point, Microsoft is now automatically migrating classic Outlook users to the web-based Outlook PWA app. Even the toggle in the web-based Outlook app that previously allowed users to switch to the old version has been removed for many. So if you want to download the old classic Outlook on Windows 11, follow the step-by-step guide below.
Revert to the Classic Outlook App on Windows 11
You can download the native Outlook app from Microsoft Store in just a few clicks. Thankfully, Microsoft is still hosting the classic application on its app store, and here’s how to get it:
- First, click this Microsoft Store link to open the Outlook for Windows (classic) web listing.
- Click the “View in Store” button, and it will open the classic Outlook in Microsoft Store.

- Following that, click on “Install” to download the old classic Outlook app on your Windows 11 PC.

- It will open the Office installer and will take some time to install the application.
- Once it’s done, open the Start menu, and search for “outlook”.
- Click to open the “Outlook (classic)” app from the search results.
- And that’s how you can get the old Outlook back on Windows 11.

Remove the New Outlook App on Windows 11
While you have installed the classic Outlook app, it’s important that you uninstall the new Outlook app to block the automatic transition. Here are the steps to follow.
- Launch the Start menu, search “powershell” and click on “Run as administrator” on the right.

- Now, run the below command to uninstall the new Outlook app on Windows 11. You are done.
