Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the highly rated sequel to Hideo Kojima’s experimental genre-defying game, Death Stranding (2019). In the sequel, players once again step into the shoes of Sam Bridges to connect Mexico and Australia to the Chiral network. Same as its predecessor, the sequel focuses on delivering cargos and uncovering the mystery surrounding the main character. Death Stranding: On the Beach is now available on PS5 and plays out in an episodic fashion, similar to the prequel. There are 17 episodes in Death Stranding 2, two more than the original game.
With an expanded open world, we porters have a lot to do in the second installment of the franchise. We, at Beebom, progressed by completing the main story and did as many side quests as possible to explore every nook and cranny of this mysterious realm.

It took me nearly 40 hours to beat the main story missions in Death Stranding: On the Beach. My playtime does include a handful of side missions that I undertook while exploring Mexico. So, if you only prioritize the main story and ignore all side missions, you can easily reach the end credits of Death Stranding 2 within a solid 35 hours , which is similar to the first game.
However, if you count the time the game demands to complete the side missions too, then you are looking at a healthy 55-65 hours of gameplay in Death Stranding 2. This is my actual playtime in the game, as mentioned in my Death Stranding 2 review . I’m yet to collect the Platinum trophy by doing a completionist run, but players will need to invest close to 90-100 hours to achieve that.
The asynchronous multiplayer system, Social Strand System, also makes a comeback in the sequel. So, naturally, you will spend a lot more time building infrastructure and making the world a better place for your fellow porters. At the time of writing, we don’t know if the sequel will also receive a Director’s Cut edition with new content.
