South Park Skins

The main highlight of the 39.20 update is the Fortnite South Park collaboration, bringing characters from the beloved animated series to the game. The collab features skins for the main crew and other themed cosmetics, which are all part of the Gonna Have Myself A Time Bundle. This includes:
- Eric Cartman Skin
- Stan Marsh Skin
- Kyle Broflovski Skin
- Kenny McCormick Skin
- Butters Stotch Skin
The game puts Eric Cartman and the rest of the crew in mech suits, similar to Bart Simpson from The Simpsons collaboration. This is done to make their disproportionate designs from the show fit into the Fortnite aesthetic and make them align with the hitboxes.
Born in Chaos Mini Pass

Apart from the main cosmetics, the crossover also features the free Born in Chaos Mini Pass, allowing players to earn 13 South Park-themed rewards without spending any V-Bucks. This includes the Imaginationland Airship Glider, a Cheesy Poofs Rocketship Emote, Level Up Tokens, and More.
Players will have to earn Cred, a new currency, by completing South Park quests in order to progress through the Pass and claim the free rewards.
Map Changes: Cartmanland POI

The South Park collab in the 39.20 update also features map changes, with the Cartmanland POI making its debut, replacing Wonkeeland in the north-west corner of the Chapter 7 map. The POI features Cartmanland, a reference to the show where Eric Cartman buys his own amusement park. The amusement park is fully functional with rides. Additionally, Epic Games has also removed snow from the Chapter 7 map, apart from around the Cartmanland POI, officially ending Winterfest 2025 festivities.
New Battle Bus

To go with the theme of the South Park collab, Epic Games has gone one step further by changing the Battle Bus. The new Battle Bus shares the same design we saw in the Fortnite South Park teaser, where Butters turns his school bus into the Fortnite Battle Bus. This custom Battle Bus is expected to last till February 5, 2026, when the South Park collab ends.
Stick of Truth Mythic

The Fortnite South Park collab is not limited to the cosmetics, as the 39.20 update also introduces the Stick of Truth Mythic . This new item, based on the beloved ‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ RPG, introduces the revolutionary mechanic of controlling the storm. When used, you can use the Stick of Truth to have the storm close around you for the final circle.
The Stick of Truth will spawn with a new Rift Anomaly. When this Rift Anomaly is active, players can battle it out to acquire the Stick of Truth. Since the item possesses such a powerful ability, it will be a single-use Mythic that could provide a significant advantage if used correctly.
Kenny’s Respawn Token

Another new item added with the 39.20 update is Kenny’s Respawn Token, a special single-use Mythic. Kenny’s Respawn Token functions just like a Self-Revive kit in the game. However, what makes this token special is that it automatically reboots you when you get eliminated, completely bypassing the need to activate a Self-Revive, which has now been vaulted with the latest update. Since the item is basically a get out of jail free card, it is only available in Unranked Battle Royale lobbies.
Cheesy Poofs Consumable Item

The South Park collab’s list of items also includes the Cheesy Poofs, a brand-new consumable that rapidly heals your health. What sets it apart from other healing items is that you can consume Cheesy Poofs even while you are sprinting, allowing you to heal on the go. This is one item that might impact the meta in Chapter 7 Season 1, allowing for more approaches when rotating. However, much like Kenny’s Respawn Token, the item is only available in unranked mode.
New Weapon: Flex SMG

The Flex SMG is the latest weapon to join the Chapter 7 Season 1 loot pool, with the SMG not being solely focused on spray and pray. This SMG features two firing modes. When aiming down sights, the SMG fires at a slower rate but packs more of a punch. Meanwhile, when hipfiring, the fire rate is much higher.
New Item: Stealth Splash

The 39.20 update also brings a new consumable in the form of the Stealth Splash. This is a new healing item that can be thrown to splash all players in an area. However, all players who are in the splash zone will also have Cloak applied to them. This means players can go nearly invisible for a short period after using the Stealth Splash.
Quints (5 Player Battle Royale Lobbies)

The 39.20 update brings an addition that not many players saw coming. The developers have added a new Battle Royale mode called Quints. This new mode will allow players to play BR matches with up to 5 players. The mode was first hinted at through the Fortnite South Park collab teaser image, where Butters could be seen waiting in a BR lobby with 4 other slots.
The Quints mode will be available for a limited time. Epic Games is set to remove it on February 5, 2026, along with the South Park crossover. However, if the mode proves to be popular enough, players can expect it to make a return later. It might even end up becoming a permanent mode like Trios.
Battle Pass and OG Pass Super Styles

With the release of the 39.20 update, Epic Games has also unlocked three of the Bonus Pages in the Chapter 7 Season 1 Battle Pass . This will allow players to unlock Super Styles for the Battle Pass skins like Kingston and the Dark Voyager (Reality Redacted). Additionally, Super Styles for the OG Season 7 Pass are also unlocked, allowing players to grind for new looks for the remixed OG skins like Lt. Winter.
Blitz Royale Changes: Asteria Awakened

The 39.20 update has also brought changes to the Blitz Royale mode, with the Asteria Awakened map making its grand return. The update also removed the Stranger Things map from the Blitz map rotation, making it inaccessible. Blitz Royale will now swap between Asteria and Starfall Island with each rotation. Additionally, Golden Llamas in the Blitz mode will now have a Shockwave Hammer.
Vaulted Weapons and Items
With the release of the new update, Epic Games has also taken several items out of the Chapter 7 Season 1 loot pool. Here’s a list of all vaulted items in update 39.20:
- Self-Revive Device
- Holiday Presents!
- Blizzard Grenade
- Icy Feet
- Shield Keg
- Sneaky Snowman
New Weekly Quests
The Fortnite 39.20 update also brings a set of new weekly quests for players to complete for Week 6 and Week 7. Completing these quests allows players to progress through the Pacific Break Battle Pass even more quickly. The quests include damaging an enemy who is playing as a boss, and even scouting shooting locations for Kingston.

Fortnite live events are one of the many things that make the game stand out from its peers. Epic Games is known for crafting breathtaking experiences that the community can enjoy together when it’s time to bookend a season. With Chapter 7 Season 1 launching recently and the storyline taking off again, the developers might be working on their first event on the Pacific Break island.
Come with us as we break down all the details we have about the next Fortnite live event, which could be in Chapter 7 Season 1 , and when it could happen.
When is the Next Fortnite Live Event? Date and Time

As of the time of writing, Epic Games has not confirmed the date and time for the next Fortnite live event. This is expected since Chapter 7 kicked off only a month ago. The Fortnite 2026 Roadmap has given us dates for patches like 39.20 on January 9, 2026 , and 39.30 on January 22, 2026 . However, none of these dates specify a live event.
However, it is important to remember that Chapter 7 Season 1 doesn’t end until March 4, 2026 . This gives Epic Games ample time to add files related to a season-end live event with the next Fortnite update , patch 39.20. The developers could also announce it with the 39.50 update, which will be the last update before Chapter 7 Season 2.
Previous Fortnite Live Event Details

The most recent major live event was the Chapter 6 finale event titled “ Zero Hour .” The event took place on November 29, 2025 , at 2 PM ET. It was one of the game’s most ambitious events, bringing in massive Fortnite collaborations like Godzilla, Kong, Superman, and so many more against the Dark Presence in a final showdown. The event went on to become one of Fortnite’s most-watched events, with over 10.5 million players attending the finale.
Apart from the Zero Hour event, Epic Games featured their annual New Year’s ball drop on December 31, 2025. The event took place every hour on New Year’s Eve, welcoming the New Year across the world.
How to Join a Fortnite Live Event
Joining a Fortnite live event is relatively simple. Epic Games usually sends out an in-game announcement, as well as a social media announcement that the live event is happening. You can then load into Fortnite Battle Royale and find the playlist for the live event in your library. It is recommended that you load into a match at least 30 minutes before the event is set to happen. This is because lobbies fill up extremely quickly during major events.
It is also important to remember that Epic Games usually disables all of the other playlists for major live events. Once you join a major live event’s playlist, you might find yourself without a weapon. Epic Games does this to prevent any griefers from ruining the experience for a player, providing a community environment for the experience.
