Genshin Impact 5.6 made the Traveler return to Mondstadt to finally complete an unwritten chapter of Albedo’s story. During the Chalk Prince and the Dragon event quest, we got a peek into Albedo’s backstory and his research in Dragonspine about the Shadow Dragon Durin. In the 5.6 update, the Archon quest Paralogism furthered that story, ending with Albedo turning the Mini Durin into a human using Durin’s heart as the core.
We got a peek at the new humanoid form of mini Durin, which inevitably sparked a new question — Will Durin become playable in Genshin Impact or not? Well, we don our theory-crafting hats to see whether Genshin Impact can release Mini Durin as a playable character later in the story.

This is Not the End for Mini Durin in Genshin Impact

In the Genshin Impact 5.6 update, we barely get a look at Mini Durin’s Humanoid form at the end of the quest. This cliffhanger might have disappointed many, but it also means that a lot more is yet to come for Mini Durin in Genshin Impact. There is no way Hoyoverse will hype up a character this interesting, only to throw any follow-up story later down the drain, right?
Hopefully, I am right and Hoyoverse does add another quest around Mini Durin’s humanoid form and Albedo. This will also be the perfect time to make Mini Durin a playable character in Genshin Impact.
Mini Durin Won’t be the Only Dragon Turned Human

Dragons are extremely powerful beings in Genshin Impact, and Durin is no exception. Creating a playable character for such strong beings can be difficult, but it’s not like it hasn’t been done before.
Neuvillette is referred to as the reincarnated Hydro Dragon Sovereign in Genshin Impact. This means that Neuvillette is basically a dragon himself, albeit born as a human. This clearly shows the mini Durin’s humanoid form can also become playable in Genshin Impact if the developers desire.
Other than Neuvillette, who is arguably the strongest Hypercarry DPS in Genshin Impact, we also have many of the Adepti becoming playable in their human form, like Xiao and Xianyun .
Could Mini Durin’s New Human Form Be Playable in Genshin Impact?
There is a huge possibility that Mini Durin’s new human form will be available to play in Genshin Impact sometime in the future. I personally don’t think that Hoyoverse will use this storyline if it didn’t lead to a new character introduction. The developers have plans to bring Durin as a playable character very soon. Also, the character design we saw at the end of the Archon quest was too high quality to simply be an NPC in the game.
