If you have been wondering why Blackbeard named their ship “Saber of Xebec ,” or why he laughs as “ Xe haha,” you are not alone in this case. Today, Oda has confirmed what fans have theorized for years. The author revealed that Rocks D. Xebec is the father of the Emperor Blackbeard in One Piece Chapter 1154. It turns out that Blackbeard titled their vessel after his father’s name, and the clue has been there all along.
The latest chapter shed light on not just Harald and Loki’s backstories but also Rocks D. Xebec as his life is mysteriously intertwined with these characters. King Harald’s paths crossed with Xebec 56 years ago during the Reverie incident, where a young Xebec ruthlessly murdered one of the Marine admirals all on his own in the Holy Land at that time.
Xebec was mentioned to have escaped without a trace from Mary Geoise. The killing of an admiral earned him the first and gigantic bounty . As teased earlier, Rocks set sail and visited Elbaf some years after the incident. This chapter confirms that Rocks came to Elbaf in search of King Harald.
Oda realized this was the perfect time to reveal the face of the legend, and more importantly, this is also when the author decided to reveal that Rocks D. Xebec is the father of Yonko Blackbeard. This means that Whitebeard had the sons of the pirate king and his main rivals as his crewmates.
Moreover, Xebec’s son was the primary reason behind the death of Roger’s son, which is another interesting parallel that I want fans to reflect back on after this legendary reveal.

The God Valley Incident was recently adapted in the One Piece anime, and it showcased the crushing defeat of the Rocks Pirates at the hands of the Roger x Garp alliance 38 years ago. It was previously mentioned that Xebec passed away due to unknown reasons shortly after the God Valley Incident. However, Loki stated that his idol, Rocks D. Xebec, was killed by the World Government.
One Piece has always been a story about inherited will. Similar to all the other main characters, it is now confirmed that Blackbeard inherited the will of his late father , Rocks D. Xebec.
The legend’s goal was to become the king of the world and rule. Now, Blackbeard plans to find the legendary One Piece treasure , as the first step towards achieving his and his father’s dream.
Furthermore, if we take a look at Blackbeard’s actions in the story so far, such as giving Shanks the scar, being responsible for Ace’s death (Roger’s son), killing Whitebeard, and imprisoning Monkey D. Garp . One can even say all these have been indirect acts of revenge against people who were behind his father’s death.
