Battlefield 6 features eight game modes spread out across nine maps , with a BR mode coming sometime in the future. Here’s an overview of them all:

1. Conquest

The franchise’s signature game mode, Conquest, offers up an all-out war experience. Battles take place on a large map with vehicles such as tanks, jets, and trucks marauding in every sector. Both teams tussle to take control of capture points and deplete the opposition’s ticket count. The sizable maps offer open-ended gameplay, where spectacle is the norm, and team communication is a must.

2. Breakthrough

Another classic game mode, Breakthrough, retains Conquest’s core premise of capturing zones but with a few key differences. Teams are assigned an attacking and defending role, with the offensive team aiming to capture zones in a given order, and their opponents tasked with stopping them. The attacking side wins if all zones are captured, while the defending team claims victory if they block the takeover of capture points and deplete enemy tickets.

3. Rush

Rush has the same format as Breakthrough with an attacking and defending dynamic. But in this case, the offensive team is tasked with planting bombs in multiple sectors, while their enemies repel them and try to exhaust their reinforcement tickets. Match flow is more tactical, with an added emphasis on flanking the opposition.

4. Team Deathmatch

The quintessential FPS game mode, Team Deathmatch, sees two teams square off to rack up the highest number of eliminations. Maps are smaller, with more linear pathways to ensure fast-paced combat. Vehicles are restricted, meaning it’s your skill with ballistic weapons that counts.

5. Squad Deathmatch

Squad Deathmatch doubles the chaos of its TDM counterpart, opting for four teams in place of two. This immediately ups the need for team coordination and comms, as matches can start to feel like a free-for-all.

6. Domination

This game mode is essentially a condensed version of Conquest, with fewer capture points and a focus on ground warfare. This means no vehicles and aircraft, just some classic infantry warfare over a tighter map.

7. King of the Hill

A staple of the genre, King of the Hill has two teams contesting a single capture point that remains static or switches frequently throughout the match. Hold the zone for the longest period possible and meet the target score to win.

8. Escalation

Making its debut in Battlefield 6, Escalation is a brand-new game mode that functions like a game of Domination, but with capture points that disappear frequently. This mechanic forces large groups of players to shuffle from one point to another with every successive capture, creating chaotic skirmishes at every turn. Best to bring along an LMG for this one.

9. Battle Royale

Battlefield 6 will receive a free-to-play Battle Royale mode set in California . Details about the BR have been leaking for ages, including its opening cinematic . Reputed sources have also revealed the game mode’s mechanics, circle dynamics, destructible environments, and even a potential release date.
