Watching movies is one of the greatest activities one can do for entertainment. However, always watching comedies or action movies tends to get boring sometimes and this is when movies that pack a plot twist can come to rescue. Whether a wholesome, mind-boggling, or gruesome one, if the story is laid out well, a plot twist takes the movie-watching experience to a different level. Get Out might not explicitly be a horror film but it will shake you up to your very core. This movie brings to light a young African-American photographer Chris who is finally going to meet the parents of his white girlfriend Rose. Even though her parents know of Chris, they don’t know that he is African-American. So, Chris was a bit skeptical about meeting them and staying with them for the weekend. However, he is received by them rather warmly but soon, he starts to feel something is off which ultimately stands to be true.
Get Out features one of the darkest plot twists I have ever seen. I’m not going to reveal a lot but if you think the parents turn out to be killers or are involved in human trafficking or are cannibals or something like that, trust me when I say it, it’s way worse than any of this.
3. Shutter Island

However, his reason for going to the island also includes the personal agenda of finding out the man who killed his wife.
Throughout the movie, some revelations will make you feel like Teddy is getting closer to finding out the answers he seeks. However, then the plot twist hits you in the most unexpected of ways where it is revealed that someone is not who they have been pretending to be and you’re so not ready for it.

However, everything changes when he meets Tyler Durden, who is everything this man wishes to be. They become friends and start a men-only group where they fight each other bare-knuckled calling it the Fight Club.
Soon, fight clubs became a thing around the country and grew into an anti-capitalist domestic terrorist organization. While Tyler seems to see nothing wrong with it, the protagonist wants to bring an end to it and finds out something about Tyler that changes the whole narrative of the movie.

Memento takes us to the life of a professional insurance claims investigator named Leonard Shelby. He is a victim of a rare condition called short-term memory loss. Even though he remembers everything about his life before the accident that caused him to have this condition, he cannot remember anything that happened 15 minutes ago.
According to him, he got short-term memory loss in an incident involving the death and sexual assault of his wife. Now, the only mission in his life is to find who killed his wife. According to the tattoo on his body, he blamed a man named John G for it. However, Leonard’s character is not as much of a victim as it seems, and if you want to know why, I recommend you watch Memento.

Saw has grown to be one of the most loved franchises of all time with an audience that still celebrates the movies that come out of this franchise. However, the first Saw movie features one of the best plot twists seen in the Saw franchise. In this movie, two men Adam Stanheight and Dr. Lawrence Gordon find themselves chained in a washroom and each of them has a tape in their pockets. In the room, there is also a corpse that is holding onto a tape player. When they play the tapes, one of them is threatened and one is not.
They have to play a “game” orchestrated by the Jigsaw Killer where one of them has to kill the other one before 6:00 PM or his wife and child die. Throughout the movie, we see flashbacks that tell us the stories of other victims of the killer, these two men being the latest of them. The plot twist in this movie will leave you baffled because it comes out of the most unexpected element in the frame.
8. The Sixth Sense

- Release Date- 6 August 1999
- Cast- Haley Joel Osment , Bruce Willis , Toni Collette , Donnie Wahlberg , Mischa Barton , Olivia Williams , Trevor Morgan , Bruce Norris .
- IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- : 8.2/ 86%
- Director- M. Night Shyamalan
The Sixth Sense was M. Night Shyamalan’s first big movie and in all honesty, it deserves all the praise it has gained for itself. The movie takes us to a child psychologist named Malcolm Crowe who narrowly escaped death after being shot by one of his former patients. After this, he fell in deep guilt for letting down his patient and saw a chance at redemption in a young boy named Cole Sear.
Cole claims that he can see dead people even those who don’t know that they are dead yet. However, Malcolm does not believe the little guy and thinks it’s a psychological condition. Over time they develop a bond and eventually, he realizes that Cole was not making it up. However, the way he comes to this realization is the whole plot twist of this movie which will blow you away with how fantastically it has been masked with impeccable camera work and direction.
9. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back

- Director- Irvin Kershner
In A Galaxy Far Far Away, a story unfolds that to this day, remains one of the most successful franchises ever made. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is the highest-rated movie from the world of Star Wars and in my opinion, this one features one of the biggest plot twists we have ever seen on screen.
I think most of you might be familiar with what I am talking about and if you are not, you really ought to watch The Empire Strikes Back. However, if you are keen on learning the twist, all I can tell you is that it stems from a father-son relationship.
10.Se7en

- Release Date- 22 September 1995
- Cast- Brad Pitt , Morgan Freeman , Kevin Spacey , Gwyneth Paltrow , Andrew Kevin Walker , Leland Orser , R. Lee Ermey , John C. McGinley , Peter Crombie , Reg E. Cathey , Michael Reid MacKay , Daniel Zacapa
- IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- 8.6/84%
- Director- David Fincher
Se7en is easily one of the most gruesome crime movies you can find. This movie takes us to two homicide detectives who are trying to hunt down a serial killer named John Doe who justifies his killings as an account for the world that has completely forgotten the seven deadly sins. The killer takes down a person in gruesome ways as a representation of one of the seven sins.
The detectives try head and toe to find this killer but by the final act of the movie, we see that the serial killer kills someone that sends Detective Mills through the edge. I’m not going to reveal too much about the twist here since it will take the fun out of the movie so if you want to know who was this person you’ll have to watch this Se7en.

In fact, there are also some that several fans missed watching in theatres. So, with the year coming to an end, we have listed the five best movies of 2025 that you can stream on Netflix right now.
1. Frankenstein

- Release Date: November 7, 2025
- Director: Guillermo del Toro
- Cast: Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz
- IMDb/ Rotten Tomatoes: 7.5/ 85%
Netflix’s Frankenstein is one of the best screen adaptations of the 1818 classic novel. Do you think you know the movie’s story? Well, you might be proved wrong. Frankenstein was Guillermo del Toro’s dream project, so he crafted a brilliant story based on the original. Well, the best part of his vision was that he didn’t make the creature seem like a mere horror; instead, he allowed us to see the creature’s human side.
Frankenstein follows Victor Frankenstein, a scientist, who is fascinated with death. So, he creates a creature using the body parts of the corpses. However, after the creature comes to life, Victor becomes frustrated with its appearance and the way it speaks and moves. He abandons him, but the creature, unable to accept rejection, follows Victor to seek answers.
2. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Image Credit: T-Street Productions (via Netflix)

A Knives Out Mystery film never disappoints, and Wake Up Dead Man raised everyone’s expectations from the franchise even more. Unlike the previous instalments, this one comes with a more serious and intriguing plot. On top of everything, Daniel Craig’s Blanc has evolved more than ever and appears as a fully realised detective in Wake Up Dead Man.
The story of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery kicks off with the murder of a religious leader in a small upstate New York church. A troubled priest of the church becomes the prime suspect, but when Blanc enters the picture, he instantly realises there is more beneath the surface that has not yet come to light.
3. KPop Demon Hunters

- Cast: Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Lee Byung-hun
- IMDb/ Rotten Tomatoes: 7.5/ 95%
KPop Demon Hunters arrived on Netflix in June 2025 and, within days, garnered a huge fanbase for its stylish animation and top-notch visuals. Instead of just being a parody of KPop, it features behind-the-scenes, idol training, stage personas, and everything in the most subtle way. Above all, we also see the lead protagonists dealing with the supernatural while maintaining their normal lives.
Kpop Demon Hunters follow a girl group, who are Kpop idols during the day and trained demon hunters at night. They have taken on the responsibility of protecting the human world from the demonic threats that emerge from time to time. So, basically, when on stage, they are not only performing for their audience, but they are also creating an energy with their music that weakens the demons, keeping their fans safe.
4. Bring Her Back

- Release Date: May 29, 2025
- Director: Danny Philippou, Michael Philippou
- Cast: Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally Hawkins
- IMDb/ Rotten Tomatoes: 7.1/ 89%
Bring Her Back is one of those horror movies that depends on cheap jump scares. Instead, it makes the horror feel personal wth the unsettling setting and the uneasy silences. Besides that, it features a slow-burning story that rewards those who unapologetically stick to it until the very end.
Andy and Piper are placed in the care of a foster mother, Laura, after the death of their father. As the story moves forward, Laura is seen desperate to bring her dead daughter back to life. So, she decides to use blind Piper as a vessel.
5. Counterattack

Image Credit: Draco films (via Netflix)
- Release Date: February 28, 2025
- Director: Chava Cartas
- Cast: Luis Alberti, Noe Hernandez, Leonardo Alonso, Luis Curiel, David Leon, Guillermo Nava
- IMDb/ Rotten Tomatoes: 6/ 69%
There are rare movies out there that skip the over-explaining part and put the focus entirely on the central point, and Counterattack is one among those golden gems in existence. It is a Mexican movie that jumps straight into the action and follows a tight script throughout, without feeling rushed at any point. If you enjoy action films, this one is perfectly suitable for you.
The movie follows Captain Armando Guerrero, the lead officer of a Mexican special unit tasked with carrying out a routine operation. However, unknowingly, they cross paths and come in the way of a brutal drug cartel, and become their targets.
